Brake pads in a sintered compound for the Sur-Ron Ultra Bee. The pad is the part of the system that decides how the brake behaves in the third minute of a descent, not in the first second. Every compound brakes about the same at first — the difference shows up once the disc is hot or wet.
That is why there is a table of the three compounds we stock below. There is no best compound — there is a compound matched to how you ride. Somebody riding long off-road descents needs something different from somebody riding in town who values quiet.

What this particular compound gives
Fade resistance
The material holds its friction coefficient as the disc heats up. That is the difference you feel on the third descent, not the first.
Modulation
The point is to meter the force with a finger rather than have the brake work like a switch. On a light bike that matters more than peak power.
Fits front and rear
The same set goes into both calipers — you do not order front and rear separately.
Bedding in
The first 50–100 km without hard braking. The material has to transfer onto the disc evenly, otherwise the pad ends up patchy.
Before you buy — three things stated plainly
Pads are replaced in pairs, each wheel separately. A new pad on one side of the caliper and a worn one on the other means uneven disc wear. Sintered compounds wear the disc faster than ceramic — that is the price of high-temperature resistance and it is a deliberate trade-off, not a fault. If your disc is already near its minimum thickness, replace it along with the pads. The manufacturer states neither the compound composition nor the working temperature range — it states the character and the fitment. We do not add numbers that do not exist.

Three things when fitting
- Degrease the disc before the new pads go in. Old material and grease on the surface guarantee squeal.
- Check disc thickness while you are there. New pads on a worn disc is a wasted set.
- Pump the lever to the stop before you set off. The first stop with an empty caliper ends against something hard.
Frequently asked questions
Which pads are best?
None of them. Sintered win off-road and on long descents, ceramic win in town and for quiet riding, semi-metallic sit between the two. The table above says so plainly.
Do they fit both front and rear calipers?
Yes, the same set goes into both. But replace each wheel separately — they wear at different rates.
Why do new pads squeal?
Usually for three reasons: the disc was not degreased, the pads are not bedded in yet, or the compound is hard and squeals cold. You fix the first two yourself; the third is a property of the compound — which is why we recommend ceramic for town riding.
