Head tube reinforcement

The cheapest part on this list, closing the most expensive failure.

A cracked steerer tube is the most expensive failure a Sur-Ron can suffer, because you do not fix it with a part — you fix it with a welder or a new frame. It does not come from nowhere: on every hard landing the entire load from the fork goes into the upper edge of the head tube. This part spreads that load over a larger area before the material starts to crack.

A few failures repeat on almost every Sur-Ron: a cracked steerer tube after a season of jumping, a worn front sprocket after a few thousand kilometres, play in the swingarm. These are not random breakdowns — they are the places where the design works hardest. What the parts in this group have in common: they cost tens of euros and close a problem that costs many times that to repair after the fact.

Let us be straight: this does not turn a Sur-Ron frame into a race frame and it is no guarantee that nothing will ever crack. It spreads stress at one specific point — the one where the frame cracks most often. If the steerer tube is already cracked, this part will not repair it. That is a job for a welder.

What you get

Closes the most expensive failure
A cracked frame means welding or replacement. This part costs a fraction of either.
Spreads the load from the fork
The load from a hard landing travels across a larger area instead of concentrating on the edge of the tube.
CNC-machined
Repeatable dimensions and a tight fit against the tube. A part that does not sit flush does not carry load.
Anodised finish
Corrosion-resistant — it sits exactly where the front wheel throws water.
Before you buy
This item fits the Sur-Ron Light Bee and Segway X260. It mounts to the factory points — no drilling and no welding.

This item is the reinforcement with its bolts.

When to do it. Before the jumping season, not after it. This is the one item in this group you fit before the symptom appears — because the symptom is a cracked frame.

Check before you buy
  • Model. Light Bee and Segway X260. Mounts to the factory points.
  • Is the frame still sound. This part is there to prevent a crack. If the steerer tube has already cracked, it will not repair it — that needs a welder or a new frame.
  • How you ride. It earns its place with jumps, drops and hard landings. For flat riding it is money without a return.
  • Fitting. An hour in the garage. A few bolts and a hex key, no welding and no drilling.

Frequently asked

Are these original parts or aftermarket?
These are 96 Power Parts items, made to the factory dimensions and mounting points. They are not Sur-Ron OEM; in several cases they are stronger than OEM, because they exist precisely where the original turned out to be the weak point.
Does fitting need a workshop?
The head tube reinforcement, the headlight bracket and the sprocket are an hour in the garage. The swingarm bushings and the wheel adapter mean taking the assembly apart — if you have never done it, hand it to a workshop. A bad job in those two places costs more than the labour.
When is the best time to fit it?
During other service on the same assembly. If the wheel, swingarm or handlebar is coming off anyway, you add one part instead of paying twice for the same job.
Does this add power or performance?
No. Nothing in this group adds power or changes gearing. These are parts that keep the bike in one piece — a completely different category from tuning.
How do I know whether I need it?
Every card in this group names a specific symptom. If you do not have the symptom, do not buy the part — with one exception: the head tube reinforcement goes on before a crack appears, because afterwards it is too late.
