The Ultra Bee leaves the factory with a 450 lbs spring, chosen for a light rider. If you weigh over 80 kg the rear sags while standing still, eats part of the travel and bottoms out on bigger hits. This spring is 550 lbs — about 22% stiffer: the simplest and cheapest worthwhile suspension upgrade on this bike.

When is this spring necessary?
If you weigh over 80 kg — essentially always. The stock 450 lbs is set up for a lighter rider, and with more weight the rear works in the bottom of its travel, which spoils geometry and handling.
I weigh under 70 kg — does it still make sense?
It does if you ride aggressively, jump and land hard. Then the issue is not static weight but dynamic loads, and 550 lbs gives you margin before bottoming out.
Do I have to replace the whole shock?
No. You swap the spring on the original shock. It is the cheapest sensible change in the Ultra Bee suspension.
Will the bike sit higher?
A stiffer spring compresses less under rider weight, so the rear sits higher when loaded — that is the point. Set your sag after fitting.
