The standard rear axle is steel and it is the single heaviest item in that part of the bike. This one is TC4 titanium alloy — stronger than the OEM steel and nearly 50% lighter. Unsprung mass at the rear wheel is the mass the shock has to control over every bump, so a gram saved here counts double.
The second point is corrosion. A steel axle sits in the swingarm collecting water, salt and grit, and after two seasons it can seize badly enough that pulling it for a tyre change becomes its own adventure. Titanium does not rust. The burn blue anodising is not paint — it is an oxide layer that a spanner will not scrape off.

Before you buy — two things stated plainly
The Light Bee and Ultra Bee axles are not interchangeable. Check your model before ordering — this is the most common mistake on this part. Second: the manufacturer does not state the weight in grams or the axle dimensions. It states only the material (TC4), the mass difference against OEM steel (close to 50%) and that the nut is included. We do not add numbers we do not have — if you need an exact length or diameter, message us and we will measure a unit from the warehouse.

Three things when fitting
- Wipe a thin film of assembly grease on the axle before it goes in. Titanium does not rust, but it still wants a clean bore.
- Torque it to the factory figure. Titanium is strong but it does not forgive being pulled up by feel with a breaker bar.
- While the wheel is out anyway — check the spacers and hub bearings. Same job, and you will not want to go back in.

Does the Light Bee axle fit an Ultra Bee?
No. They are two different parts with different length and diameter. Order the version for your model.
What exactly does it weigh?
The manufacturer gives no gram figure — only the difference against OEM steel, close to 50%. If you need a hard number, message us and we will weigh a unit from stock.
Will a spanner take the anodising off?
Anodising is an oxide layer grown into the surface, not paint. A spanner will not remove it; a hard scrape against an edge can leave a mark, as on any anodised part.
