Precision titanium suspension bolt set — Sur-Ron Light Bee | zero-play tolerance, titanium
Precision titanium suspension bolt set — Sur-Ron Light Bee | zero-play tolerance, titanium
- A set of titanium suspension bolts made to a narrow tolerance for the Sur-Ron Light Bee. Factory bolts vary widely in size — some bikes get tight joints, others have noticeable play from new. This set removes that spread. Rolled threads, and titanium does

Play in a Sur-Ron rear suspension rarely comes from wear. Usually it has been there since day one — because the factory bolts have a wide dimensional spread. Some bikes land on a tight joint and steer precisely; others knock over bumps and have noticeable play in the linkage. It is a lottery, not wear.
The threads on these bolts are rolled, not cut. That is not marketing detail: rolling makes the material grain follow the thread profile instead of being severed, so the bolt takes a higher torque and holds clamping force better. With a cut thread, every turn of the helix is a broken grain line.
Which set for what
| Set | What it solves | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|
| Precision suspension bolts | Play in the suspension joints caused by loose factory tolerances | You hear knocking or the rear feels vague |
| Precision suspension bolts in titanium | The same, plus corrosion resistance and lower weight | You ride through water and mud and want it done once |
| Titanium rear sprocket bolts | Rusting and seized sprocket bolts | You are changing the sprocket or the chain |
| Titanium adjuster bolts | Seized adjuster bolts when setting chain tension | You adjust the chain often and are done with rust |
Let us be honest about titanium: on bolts this size the weight saving is tiny and you will not feel it in the handling. The real reasons are corrosion resistance and the fact that a titanium bolt will not seize into aluminium after a muddy season. If all you want is a lighter bike, spend the money elsewhere.
What you get
Rolled threads
The material grain follows the thread instead of being cut through. Higher permissible torque and a more reliable clamp.
Narrow tolerance
Made to a tight dimensional range. A joint without play, whichever example of the bike you happen to own.
Titanium — does not corrode
It will not seize into aluminium after a season in water and mud. In two years it comes out the same way it went in.
A complete set for one joint
You replace every bolt in that spot at once, not one at a time.
Before you buy
You get the bolts only. Bearings, bushings, the sprocket and other parts are separate items.
Fits the Sur-Ron Light Bee. The Ultra Bee and Talaria use different sizes — do not buy this set for another model.
Torque them properly. Titanium and steel behave differently — overtightening a titanium bolt can strip an aluminium thread.

Bolt sets are best replaced during a service of that joint — when everything is apart anyway. That way you do not pay twice for the same labour.

Check before you buy
- Model. This set is for the Sur-Ron Light Bee. The Ultra Bee and Talaria use different sizes.
- Whether you have play. The precision sets make sense when the suspension knocks or the rear feels vague. If everything is tight, you do not need them.
- Torque. Use a torque wrench — titanium does not forgive being overtightened in an aluminium thread.
- When to do it. Cheapest during a service of that joint, when it is already apart.
Frequently asked
Where does the play in a Sur-Ron suspension come from?
The factory bolts have a wide dimensional spread. Some bikes end up with a tight joint, others have noticeable play from new. A precision set made to a narrow tolerance removes that spread.
Is titanium stronger than steel?
Not in absolute terms. Titanium has a better strength-to-weight ratio and it does not corrode — those are the real reasons it is used here. The strength of a good steel bolt is already sufficient.
What do rolled threads give me?
Rolling makes the material grain follow the thread profile instead of severing it. The bolt takes a higher torque and holds its clamp better than a cut-thread equivalent.
Will I feel the weight difference?
No. On bolts this size the saving is symbolic. What you are buying is corrosion resistance and a bolt that will not seize into aluminium.
Does it fit an Ultra Bee or a Talaria?
No. This set is dimensioned for the Light Bee. For other models write to us and we will pick the right one.
What torque should I use?
The same as the factory value for that joint. Use a torque wrench: an overtightened titanium bolt can damage an aluminium thread.
