Front wheel spacers, set

Two pieces, both sides of the hub. Black anodised aluminium.

You pull the front wheel at every tyre change and after every serious crash. The factory spacers are the smallest part there — the easiest to lose in the grass, to push in crooked on refitting, or to find rusted onto the axle. A fresh set at a known dimension is the cheapest way to get the wheel back on centred.

The wheel-axle hardware on a Sur-Ron is plain steel. After a season of water, mud and road salt it surface-rusts and seizes onto the axle — and then pulling the wheel ends with a hammer on the axle and a wrecked bearing seal. It is not a fault you can see when you buy the bike. You see it at the first tyre change.

Let us be straight: spacers add no power, change no geometry and do not widen the wheel. This is a service part. You buy it because the original has rusted, seized onto the axle or gone loose — or because the wheel is off the bike anyway and this is the cheapest moment to be done with it for years. If your originals are fine and you never touch the wheels, skip this one.

What you get

Factory dimensions
The wheel sits centred and the chain line stays where it was. A spacer of the wrong length shifts the sprocket and eats the chain.
Both sides in one set
You do not buy a second piece separately or mix an old spacer with a new one. Both sides get replaced at once.
Will not seize onto the axle
Aluminium does not form the rust that glues a spacer to the axle. In two years the wheel comes off by hand, not with a drift.
No special tools
Pull the wheel and swap them. Ten minutes, one spanner, no bearing press.
Before you buy
This item fits the Sur-Ron Light Bee, Talaria Sting and Segway X260. The Ultra Bee uses different hub dimensions.

What is offered here is a set of 2 front wheel spacers. Bearings, axle, disc and the rest of the hub are separate items.

Check the bearings while you are in there. The wheel is already off, so this is the cheapest moment to catch bearing play before it destroys the hub.

Check before you buy
  • Model. Light Bee, Talaria Sting and Segway X260. The Ultra Bee uses different dimensions.
  • Front or rear. These are front wheel spacers. The rears are a different size and are not interchangeable.
  • Material. Anodised aluminium does not rust and weighs less. Stainless steel is harder and cheaper. If you pull the wheel often or torque the axle hard, steel forgives more.
  • When to do it. During a tyre or chain change — that way you do not pay twice to have the wheel off.

Frequently asked

Why replace spacers if the factory ones work?
Because usually they no longer work as well as you think. They are plain steel, and after a season of water and salt they rust and seize onto the axle. Pulling the wheel then means hammering, and the bearing seal takes the damage.
Do spacers change wheel width or geometry?
No. They are made to factory dimensions. Their job is to centre the wheel and carry the axle clamp load onto the bearing inner race. Nothing beyond that.
Aluminium or stainless steel?
Anodised aluminium: lighter, will not rust, looks like a tuning part. Stainless steel: harder, less likely to deform under a hard axle torque, cheaper. Aluminium for trail riding, steel for hard riding and frequent wheel removal.
Should I replace the axle nut at the same time?
It is the cheapest add-on at this moment. After a few removals the factory nut has rounded corners and starts slipping in the spanner — and a rounded nut on the trail ends the ride.
How tight should the axle be?
To the manufacturer's torque figure, with a torque wrench. Over-torquing the axle is the most common cause of a deformed spacer and a seized bearing — a spacer is not there to absorb excess clamp load.
