Sur-Ron Swingarm Cracking? Why the Stock Arm Fails — and the Reinforced Fix

If you ride your Sur-Ron Light Bee hard — dirt jumps, enduro, supermoto or MX — there is a good chance the factory swingarm will let you down. Cracked and broken stock swingarms are one of the most common failures on modified Light Bees. Here is why it happens, how to spot it early, and the reinforced fix.
Why the stock Sur-Ron swingarm fails
The swingarm handles torque, power transmission and suspension loads — one of the hardest-working parts on the bike. The factory Light Bee arm is designed for stock power and gentle use. Add a high-power controller, a stronger battery or a motor upgrade and the loads climb fast. The stock arm is too flexible and too thin for that abuse, so it flexes, fatigues and eventually cracks — often around the pivot or axle area.
Signs your swingarm is on the way out
- Visible hairline cracks near the pivot or dropouts
- Vague, wandering feel at speed or under hard acceleration
- Chain or belt alignment that will not stay true
- Play or movement that was not there when new
If you have added power and ride aggressively, treat the stock arm as a wear item — not an “if” but a “when”.
The fix: 96 Power Parts reinforced swingarm
We built the “96” Racing Swingarm specifically to survive what the factory part cannot. It is CNC-machined from high-grade 6061-T6 aviation aluminium for far greater rigidity, impact resistance and longevity under high torque — with the MX strength and look the stock arm cannot match.
- Material: 6061-T6 aviation-grade aluminium, CNC-machined
- Length: 525 mm — 45 mm longer than stock for high-speed stability
- Weight: 3.7 kg (only ~1.5 kg over stock) for better weight distribution on modified bikes
- Belt-drive ready: modular bolted design fits a quiet belt drive without cutting the swingarm
- Fitment: plug & play with all Sur-Ron Light Bees
- Finish: anodised black with signature 96 bronze
What you gain
More stability without losing agility, better terrain feedback, and a swingarm that will not crack when you turn up the power. The +45 mm wheelbase calms the bike at speed and over jumps, while the bolted design keeps future upgrades like belt drive simple.
Fitment & install
Installation is straightforward — the only adjustment for the longer wheelbase is a two-chain-link extension in the shorter wheel position. Note: the chain-tensioner parts shown in some photos are sold separately.
