The standard Light Bee display sits on top of the handlebar, right next to the throttle. That is the worst possible place: in the first crash either the bar or the ground lands on it, and a replacement display costs many times what this guard does. This item does two things at once — it encases the display and moves it to the centre, out of the impact zone.
A Sur-Ron leaves the factory as a platform, not as a finished motorcycle. Several things on it are simply left exposed — the chain runs with no guard at all, the display sits on top of the handlebar, and the battery cover lock looks like a line on a cost sheet. That is not a design fault. The manufacturer leaves room for the owner to finish the bike their own way.

Let us be straight: this is not armour. The guard will take a fall onto the ground and the scuffing that comes with it, but a hard hit against a solid obstacle can still damage the display. The real gain is different — the display stops being the first thing that touches the ground, because it leaves the end of the handlebar.

Is carbon-look actually carbon?
No. It is a finish, not a material. It looks like a carbon weave but has neither its mechanical properties nor its price. We say so plainly, because in this trade that is not always the case.
